Hard Times Ministry

Money Management Counseling

Whether it's from a job loss, catastrophic event or
another source of financial hardship the pressures can
be formidable. We offer informal support for advise and
ideas on how to persevere until better days arrive.

Hard Times Outreach

Mountain View United Methodist Church invites you to participate in a twice-monthly, informal support group for those in crisis due to the current economic hard times. We offer support and encouragement as you seek shelter from the storm; however, we do not provide direct financial assistance of any kind.

We meet on the first and third Thursday of each month in The Annex (the farmhouse located on the property behind the church). We will listen to what’s on your mind … and we promise to share our own experiences with situations similar to what you’re facing.

In addition, we have printed material outlining processes, resources and options on topics such as:

  • Job loss
  • Foreclosure
  • Bankruptcy
  • Debt Management
  • Immediate needs (food, utilities, rent, clothing, etc.)

Many of us at Mountain View have gone through similar situations as you are facing now. We understand the feelings of fear, anger and helplessness you may be experiencing. We also understand the value of sharing, caring, and helping you to find solutions to your challenges. We also find that many of our participants know of resources to help – together we can make it!

Mountain View UMC participates in Angel Food Ministy (where you can buy a week’s worth of groceries for only $30, once a month); we have a birthday shop to provide birthday celebration items to families in need; and we have knowledge of other ministries we can tell you about, depending on your interests and personal needs.

For more information, please call Mary Dilg at 404-558-5539 and leave a callback number. We are very interested in how we can help you and your family to cope during this difficult time.

Mountain View United Methodist Church is located at the northeast corner of Jamerson and Trickum Roads. The parking lot for the meeting is behind the rear of the church.
