History of Mountain View UMC
Mountain View United Methodist Church originated with a group of 12 people attending services at the La Petit Academy in Marietta, Georgia. Their goal was to start a community church that would become a larger home for people in north Cobb County and south Cherokee County. The vision caught fire in the community, and the small group grew too large for the La Petit Academy setting and then moved their services to Lassiter High School.
Soon after moving to Lassiter High School, the church purchased land at Jamerson Road and Trickum Road. The church’s construction was started in 1986. The first building to be completed was the Fellowship Hall which then served as the church’s sanctuary. The church’s physical facilities have since grown to include a formal sanctuary, business office, fellowship hall, classrooms which serve the preschool as well as Small Group Classes, and ample parking for our growing congregation.
Today, the church continues to grow and welcomes all persons to visit our church. Mountain View United Methodist Church is a friendly church whose members share open hearts, open minds and open doors. Celebrating a diversity of people, ideas and cultures, we are enriched by our Methodist history, and we invite you to join us.
